My life as a musician

At the age of 14 I bought guitar, amp and some effect pedals from my brother Frode. I saw Gary Moore on a tv-concert, and was hooked on the guitar.
I started practicing about 8 hours a day, and started a band called Chainsaw, together with Christer Aasheim (drums) and Arild Kristiansen (guitar). After a while came Thorbjørn Melbye (bass) and Simon Tverberg (vocals) into the band.
We started rehearsing as a metal band, and played songs by Metallica, Thin Lizzy, Gary Moore, TNT and so on.
We also started making our own songs, and played several gigs at Rjukan. Later on we changed the name to Yankee Rose, and went to the finale of Telemark in UKM.

I did continue rehearsing a lot, every day, for many years.

In the early 90's I joined a new band called Heads Up. The line up for this band you can read in the "Earlier days" section.
Heads Up were a Jazz, rock, blues and fusion band, and started as an instrumental band. Later on we got a female singer, and played gigs at Notodden Blues Festival, Kongsberg Jazz Festival, Rebecca West in Oslo, Promenaden in Sandefjord and several gigs at Smuget in Oslo.
We also had a lot of gigs in our hometown Rjukan.

In 1998 I was proud to be the best man for my friend Simon Tverberg, and we surprised him at the bachelor party, and started a band for the evening. We played a few pubs in Rjukan and thought this was so much fun, we just continued after that night. The band was called Simone and the kan ikke band. Later we became a Thin Lizzy tribute band, called Tinn Lizzy. You can read about this band in the Tinn Lizzy section. We are still going.............

In the autumn 2011 I bought a Zoom R8, just to have the opportunity to tape some ideas. I did some videos on Youtube, and got so many good feedbacks from all over the world, that I really wanted to start my own project. Jørgen, my former drummer, took contact and asked if I could send him some of my guitar tracks, to record bass and drums, just for fun. I did, and was so pleased by his work, that I asked him to start a band playing my music. We contacted Morten and Frank, and I asked my brother Frode, to join. GreppGuitar was born.
The line up has changed a few times after we started.
You can read about it in the GreppGuitar section of this homepage.

I'm also on the Norwegian "NRK Urørt", hopefully to get played on the Norwegian radio.
The song "Dreamin'" won the Norsk Musikk award for electric guitar.
The songs you can listen to at ReverbNation, SoundCloud, and Urørt, are mostly mixed on my computer, using Cubase. Some tunes has been heavily mixed in Largo Studio at Rjukan.
The plan is to make an album in 2015, stay tuned.

5 songs are being played on a Canadian internet radio station.

So, please feel free to check all the links and everything else on my homepage. Hope to see you out there, sometime.

Best regards
